Privacy & device storage
MacKenzie Highlands is independently created by Phillip Arron McKenzie. The current app stores saved stops and planner notes in your browser’s local storage. My story stores family information, journal entries, photographs and optional audio recordings in your device’s browser database. The app does not send these personal entries to a server.
Cloudflare hosts this website. Supabase handles email sign-in and purchase access records. These services may process ordinary service logs. A confirmed email is matched to checkout before access is granted. This app does not add advertising trackers or its own analytics. Your journal stays in this browser unless you export it.
Music artwork loads from YouTube. Choosing Play video connects to a YouTube privacy-enhanced player. Fonts on the main app load from Google Fonts. Those services can receive connection information such as your IP address. External website and map links take you to services with their own privacy practices.
Payment access is verified using Stripe and Supabase, with the access database in the Zurich region. It stores payment identifiers, checkout email, purchase status and the account linked to access. It does not store your travel journal, family notes, photographs or recordings.
Backups and keepsakes are files you choose to download. Keep them somewhere private: they can contain your family information, photographs and recordings. They are not encrypted by this app.
Clearing website data removes local records, downloaded guides and preferences. Journal entries can be deleted individually in My story. Downloaded place guides can be removed in Help & install. Save a backup before clearing data or changing browsers. The home-screen app may use a separate storage area; restore your backup there if needed.
What this guide provides
Suggested places and approaches, introductory clan history with sources, external visitor links, musical storytelling and personal journalling tools. The current offline pack contains selected place descriptions and photographs. It does not contain YouTube videos, offline maps or the full planner.
Information and access arrangements can change. Check official sources before travelling. The guide does not make reservations or provide turn-by-turn navigation, genealogical verification, tickets or accommodation.
Clan societies and attractions linked here have not endorsed this product. Folklore and creative musical interpretations are identified separately from documented history.
Purchase & support information
The first edition costs £19 GBP once, including applicable tax. There is no recurring subscription or free trial. Checkout uses Stripe’s Managed Payments, sold through Link. Your bank may apply its own currency conversion charges.
Use the same email for checkout and sign-in. We email you a code to open your verified purchase. If you paid and cannot open it, contact support before paying again.
A voluntary full refund is available on request within 7 calendar days, even after opening the guide. Any longer cancellation or refund rights required by law remain protected. See the purchase and refund terms for the access commitment, device requirements and refund process.
Online access is checked against purchase records. Previously downloaded guides and personal backup files can remain on a device until their owner removes them. We keep payment and access records as needed to provide access, handle refunds and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. To request help with your records, contact support.
